So I totes have the urge to jump in on an academy vs. brotherhood debate, but then i remember that they’re in character and my character hardly knows anyone from the brotherhood and i don’t really want to bend any more rp rules than i have and then my feelings do things and then i remember why i’m seeing the movie for the fourth time in theaters on tuesday: BECAUSE I LOVE IT AND THE ISSUES IN IT.
Lindsey nodded over at Vanessa and backed away even quicker before releasing one more fire whip and lashing it around Stiles’ neck. It burned and tightened, slowly killing the hologram. As he fell to his knees, Lindsey couldn’t help but cringe. She had never been that violent with her power before and it made her sick. She looked up at Vanessa with her hands around Surge’s neck, realizing that this is what they would have to do in real life. If they could. Stiles disappeared as his finally died and Lindsey made her way back over to Vanessa.
By the time Lindsey has reached Vanessa, Surge was unconscious but not dead. Vanessa knew she had to hold on long enough so that the hologram “died”, and she knew that this was only an exercise, but she knew that in the same situation in real life, she would not be able to kill another human being. We were all mutants in a world of “human beings”, but mutants still had humanity. Vanessa knew she would be considered weak, but she let go of “Surge’s” throat before its pulse completely disappeared. The knocked her on the head just in case she tried to regain consciousness.
“Better person than I am…” Lindsey muttered as she helped Vanessa to her feet. “I don’t think Charles would really want us to kill in real life, but with some of these people, how else would we come out alive?” Lindsey looked down at Surge’s body and it disappeared as their training session came to a close. “Other than me being a fuckin’ killer now, I think that went pretty well. Good job, team,” she said, pulling Vanessa in for a hug. It was more for her benefit than Vanessa’s, something to make her feel more human again.
“Kill-or-be-killed. And I don’t believe you’re a killer. More like a survivor, Lindsey.” Vanessa hugged back and noticed Lindsey wince. Then she saw the scorched parts of her x-suit. “Let’s get you to Isis quick.”
I’m relieved to know that The Brotherhood is not specifically anti-Academy. Sometimes I can’t decide if our differences are beyond reconciliation. We would be the largest united community of mutants in the world, and we could make so much social progress together. “If only”, I guess, huh? Maybe there will always be hope if we truly believe what our respective sides are fighting for.
(Ducks behind something solid-looking and calls Lindsey over.) “I’ve got Surge and you’ve got Stiles. Mine can control sound waves in air and yours can change the composition of anything he touches. Since you seem to be more offensive, you keep them busy and separated and…
Vanessa saw that Stiles was going for Lindsey, which meant that even if the opponents were also working as a team, Surge would be looking for her right now. Two reasons to move quickly and get to Surge while she was still adjusting to the fire. Vanessa sees Surge before her vision gets cut off by a wall of fire, but she moves to where her back was turned and when the fire clears again, she wraps her hands around her opponent’s throat. “LINDSEY, I GOT MINE. YOU TAKE CARE OF STILES.” Vanessa tries to wrestle Surge to the ground and keep her hands over her throat.

Your heat waves will keep her from hurting you and Stiles has to get close to someone to do damage. 3… 2… 1-“
YES. Who did you get paired with? I think I got someone named Surge.

“Ahh! I’m not ready!” Lindsey yelled as she dodged god-knows-what thrown her way. She whipped her…
Vanessa freezes up when she realizes just how unprepared she is for combat, but she decides to fight tooth and nail anyway. She sized up the angry-looking redhead girl across from her and tried to get her to make the first move to reveal her ability.

“I’m just going to assume that that was for Lindsey or Flare, since I have the legs of one of those salamander-looking things. The ones that are basically snakes, but with tiny useless legs. I’m saying I can’t run. Too early for logical comparisons.” Suddenly the alarm went off and Professor Howlett announced that there had been an attack on the school with a fatality. The details and the understanding that the attack was from The Brotherhood put everyone off their breakfast.
